This article establishes procedures for Laboratory testing and reporting electrical conduit materials. Refer to Sec 1060 for MoDOT’s specifications.
1060.4.1 Procedure
The Laboratory tests to be performed on the sample are designated by the inspector in the remarks area of AASHTOWARE Project (AWP).
Chemical Tests
The procedure for determining mass of zinc coating shall be according to AASHTO T65. Particular attention should be given as to whether both the inside and the outside surfaces have been galvanized. The stripping method shall be used in all cases where the area of the test specimen can be accurately calculated. On test specimens shaped so that the area cannot be calculated, the mass of coating shall be determined with a magnetic gage, in accordance with ASTM E376. Refer to Field determination of weight (mass) of coating for additional information on the proper use of the magnetic gage. Original test data and calculations shall be recorded in Laboratory workbooks. Test results shall then be recorded through AWP.
1060.4.2 Sample Record
The sample record shall be completed in AASHTOWARE Project (AWP), as described in AWP MA Sample Record, General, and shall indicate acceptance, qualified acceptance, or rejection. Appropriate remarks, as described in Reporting Test Results, are to be included in the remarks to clarify conditions of acceptance or rejection. Test results shall be reported on the appropriate templates under the Tests tab.
